Car parking

The trust offers car parking for visitors, although parking is a significant problem between 9.00am and 4.00pm, and we urge everyone to use public transport if possible, or arrange to be dropped off. Each entrance has a drop off and collection point as well as designated parking spaces for blue badge holders.

We are unable to guarantee the availability of car parking spaces, so please allow plenty of time. If you cannot park at the hospital, there are public car parks in the town centre or in Bedford Road, a short walk away.

Visitors are asked to note that parking enforcement is in operation on the hospital site to deter illegal parking.

The current charges for car parking are:

Time Charge

0 to 3 hours £3.10

3 to 6 hours £5.10

Over 6 hours £10.00

Concessionary weekly ticket £10.00 (See below)

Parking charge notice £80.00 (£40.00 if paid within first 14 days)

All Trust car parks have Pay and Display machines.  Please note that the ‘Pay and display’ ticket machines do not give change, and accept 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2 coins only.

A concessionary weekly parking ticket may be purchased from the Travel Office near main reception (Cliftonville, area D) with a letter of authorisation from the ward. Permits must be displayed at all times when parking at NGH.

Disabled Blue Badge Holders

Parking is free for registered disabled ‘blue badge’ holders in pay and display car parks and marked disabled bays. The blue badges must be fully displayed and the correct side up. Please note that it is illegal to park on double yellow or red lines and any other areas indicated as fire routes within the hospital grounds. It is also illegal to park in any other parking restricted areas indicated by signage and/or permitted time. Please be advised that the Blue Badge Scheme parking regulations do not apply on NGH site.

There are several visitor car park areas at the hospital:
