Research agreement announced between hospital and university

Description
Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust and University of Northampton have today (14 DEC) announced a research agreement to further improve wellbeing of local people and care of hospital patients. Closer links between the University of Northampton and Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust will pave the way for academic research to be put into practice and open up new opportunities for research projects to improve health and wellbeing.

Celebration marks 50 years of specialist baby care

Description
Family and former colleagues of pioneering children's doctor Isaac Henry "Harry" Gosset gathered at Northampton General Hospital to mark 50 years of specialist care for premature babies. They were joined by parents and babies who had first-hand experience of the care provided at the 50-year-old Gosset Ward at an event to celebrate the life of Dr Gosset, Northampton's first consultant paediatrician.

Four hour A&E target met for three months

Description
Northampton General Hospital's emergency department met its four-hour waiting target for three consecutive months this summer. On average, 95.74 per cent of the 28,745 patients who visited Northampton General Hospital over the three summer months were seen, treated and admitted or discharged within four hours.

lJunior Doctors' industrial action: information for patients

Description
The first period of industrial action will take place from 8am on Tuesday 1 December until 8am the following day. During this time, junior doctors will provide cover for emergencies only. Our priority during the industrial action is to keep our patients safe and so our focus will be on those departments and wards where patients have the greatest need of care. This means that we have taken the decision to cancel some appointments and we are sending letters by first class post to affected patients. Anyone who has had an appointment cancelled will receive a letter this week.

Mouth cancer checks in shopping centre

Description
Experts in head and neck cancer are inviting Northampton shoppers for a free mouth cancer check-up as part of Mouth Cancer Action Month. Northampton General Hospital's head and neck cancer team will be in the town's Grosvenor Shopping Centre on Saturday to raise awareness of the symptoms of mouth cancer and the importance of early detection.
