NGH banking on local nurses

Description
Northampton General Hospital is launching a campaign to promote the benefits of registering with its nurse bank. The hospital is offering skills assessments and tailored support to local registered nurses who would like to work occasional shifts at the hospital in addition to their main job.

Daisy campaign to bolster support to new nurses

Newly-qualified nurses at Northampton General Hospital are to be presented with a commemorative daisy pin badge to welcome them to their new role. Nurses will wear the badges on their collars for their first six months in post.

Northampton General Hospital's emergency department swept the boards at the annual staff awards ceremony this weekend.The emergency department picked up a hat-trick of awards at the Best Possible Care ceremony on Friday night, including the team of the year accolade for their proactive approach to improving patient flow and safety.

NGH launches augmented reality app

Description
Northampton General Hospital has become only the second NHS hospital in the UK to use an exciting new technology that delivers information to staff and patients' via their mobile phones or tablets. NGH Plus is the new free app launched by the hospital this week. It uses a technology called Augmented Reality so people can find out more about hospital news and services just by pointing their mobile device at visual triggers placed throughout the hospital sites and at photos in its Insight magazine.

Crazy Hats donation brings chemo suite funds to quarter million mark

Description
A fundraising appeal to refurbish the chemotherapy suite at Northampton General Hospital has reached the quarter of a million pounds mark thanks to the sterling efforts of local cancer charity Crazy Hats. The Northamptonshire charity, which raises money to improve breast cancer care in the county, presented a £30,000 cheque to the chemotherapy suite appeal, taking the total raised so far to £250,000.

New outpatient pharmacy opens

Description
Patients at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust (NGH) can benefit from a more convenient prescription service, thanks to a new partnership with Boots UK. The hospital has joined forces with Boots UK to change the way it dispenses prescriptions to people following an outpatient appointment.

Exhibition for art student who feared she might not paint again

Description
Four years ago, Mareika Gillett lay critically ill and unconscious in A&E with a shattered pelvis, fractured spine, broken bones in every limb and shattered facial bones after a car drove through a red light and hit her as she crossed a road, just five weeks into her first year as a fine art student. Last Thursday, the 23-year-old University of Northampton student met up with some of the medical staff who help her rebuild her life at an exhibition of her degree work inspired by her experience as a patient.

Best foot forward for NGH employees

Employees of Northampton General Hospital are taking part in a global programme which will see them travel the world – virtually! Across the hospital, 147 employees in 21 teams of seven have signed up to the Global Corporate Challenge which aims to get workplaces active and healthy.
