Description: Northampton General Hospital has become only the second NHS hospital in the UK to use an exciting new technology that delivers information to staff and patients' via their mobile phones or tablets. NGH Plus is the new free app launched by the hospital this week. It uses a technology called Augmented Reality so people can find out more about hospital news and services just by pointing their mobile device at visual triggers placed throughout the hospital sites and at photos in its Insight magazine.

Description: A fundraising appeal to refurbish the chemotherapy suite at Northampton General Hospital has reached the quarter of a million pounds mark thanks to the sterling efforts of local cancer charity Crazy Hats. The Northamptonshire charity, which raises money to improve breast cancer care in the county, presented a £30,000 cheque to the chemotherapy suite appeal, taking the total raised so far to £250,000.

Description: Four years ago, Mareika Gillett lay critically ill and unconscious in A&E with a shattered pelvis, fractured spine, broken bones in every limb and shattered facial bones after a car drove through a red light and hit her as she crossed a road, just five weeks into her first year as a fine art student. Last Thursday, the 23-year-old University of Northampton student met up with some of the medical staff who help her rebuild her life at an exhibition of her degree work inspired by her experience as a patient.

Description: "Before I die I would like to..." That's the sentence we'll be asking our staff, visitors and patients to finish tomorrow to mark Dying Matters Week 2015. We'll have a graffiti board in the Cyber Café on Hospital Street where you can tell us what you'd like to do before you die; there'll be free organza bags with Forget-me-not seeds to sow in memory of a loved one; and we'll be asking our staff to fill in a pledge card about how they can improve the quality of care of patients at the end of their life.
