Wipes block pipes – that's the message from Northampton General Hospital and Anglian Water as they join forces to raise awareness of the financial and environmental cost of flushing disposable wipes down the toilet. When flushed, wipes don't disintegrate like toilet paper. And with more and more people using disposable wipes for personal hygiene and cleaning, pipes and sewers are getting blocked.

NGH maternity begins celebrations for International Day of the Midwife

Description
A midwife's poem about premature birth has won an art competition to celebrate International Day of the Midwife on Saturday. Comedian and actor, Joe Pasquale, who is visiting Northampton this weekend to star in a performance of 'Some mothers do 'ave 'em' at the Royal & Derngate, stopped off at the hospital yesterday to judge the competition.

Quarterly DAISY award honourees selected for May 2018

On the 2nd May 2018, Director of Nursing, Midwifery & Patient Services, Carolyn Fox invited staff from three NGH departments to celebrate nominated individuals who have been presented with the Daisy Award. Registered nurses Hayley Au of Willow Ward, Jo Knape of Paddington Ward and Midwife Marjorie Ashton of the Barratt Birth Centre were recognised for going above and beyond and delivering best possible care to their patients.

New technology introduced at NGH will benefit local men

A revolutionary new treatment recently introduced at NGH will relieve symptoms and pain for patients with an enlarged prostate without the need for major surgery or a lengthy hospital stay. The pioneering Urolift treatment allows surgeons to reposition and move tissue using implants, rather than removing tissue. This means patients can often return home to begin their much shorter recovery process.
