Child patients set to benefit from newly refurbished Children's Outpatients' area thanks to donation from local play centre

Description
Northampton General Hospital's recently relocated children's outpatients' area has received a generous donation from local family entertainment centre Riverside Hub, based on Riverside Park, for the decoration and supply of toys for the newly acquired area. Children's outpatients' has recently moved to area K within the hospital and was officially re-opened in May 2017.

Quarterly DAISY award honourees selected

The quarterly DAISY award's for registered nurses have three new honourees. Registered nurses Julia Cornea of Rowan Ward, Fiona Fulthorpe of Creaton Ward and Lucy Mann of the Emergency Department were recognised for going above and beyond and delivering best possible care to their patients.

NGH receive £16,042.97 donation from Barclaycard fraud team

Description
Northampton General Hospital would like to thank Phil Vickers and the Fraud Team at Barclaycard in Brackmills, Northampton for the extremely generous donation of £16,042.97. The donation will go to the Radiotherapy and Oncology department at NGH as a thank you for the treatment that Phil received from the Radiotherapy team here at NGH.

Stem cell treatment closer to home

Description
Patients receiving a highly specialist form of transplant therapy using their own stem cells can now be treated closer to home thanks to the re-introduction of the service at Northampton General Hospital. Since April, our haematology department has been carrying out autologous stem cell transplants on Talbot Butler ward.

Community award for hospital library campaign

Description
A campaign that led to the creation of a mobile library for patients at Northampton General Hospital has won a prestigious national award in recognition of the local community's involvement. The Bedside Book Club is run by the hospital's volunteers and was created thanks to book donations from the public of Northampton when earlier this year, the hospital asked people living and working in Northampton to donate their favourite book.

Heart centre introduces drill treatment

Description
Patients receiving treatment in Northampton General Hospital's heart centre can now benefit from a complex surgical procedure, called rotablation, which uses high-speed drills to blast away hardened calcium.

NGH shortlisted for two Nursing Times awards

Description
A Northampton project to support adults with learning disabilities and complex needs when they have surgery has been shortlisted for a national award that celebrates excellence in nursing and midwifery. The project is one of two shortlisted entries by Northampton General Hospital in the prestigious Nursing Times Awards.
