Anaesthetics, Critical Care and Pain Management
Comprising 60 doctors (34 consultants, 5 staff / associate specialists and 21 doctors in training) the Anaesthesia and Critical team perform an essential role at this multi-disciplinary hospital.
Anaesthetists, along with nursing and support staff, also run the Critical Care service, which includes the Intensive Therapy Unit, the High Dependency Unit and the Critical Care Outreach service.
About our service
There are eighteen operating theatres in the hospital and we perform over 23,000 operations and many thousands of other procedures each year. We also look after the dedicated day surgery hospital at Daventry and our own in house Day surgery Unit on the main NGH site. In addition, we provide support and treatment for patients suffering with chronic pain in our Pain Management Unit and for critically unwell patients in our Intensive Care Unit.
