The Pathology department provides patient-care diagnostic and testing facilities for Northampton General Hospital and the local community General Practitioners.

Pathology reception is located on Hospital Street in Area G on the hospital map.
The nearest parking areas are Car Parks 4 and 5 (or 2 after 3.00pm). Limited disabled parking is available.

Blood Taking Unit
This provides a service for the community and hospital clinics. The unit operates as a ‘walk-in’ service, (first come, first served).
The Blood Taking Unit (BTU) is located in Area K (Out Patients Department) and is open from 7.30am to 4.30pm. Monday to Friday, last appointment 4.15pm.
There is no service available Saturday, Sunday or Bank Holidays.
Children and patients with special needs are be seen by appointment by telephoning (01604) 544190 between 8.30am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday
Mortuary
The department is also responsible for providing the public mortuary service for South Northamptonshire and autopsy facilities for HM Coroner.
A viewing room is available where relatives can pay their final respects in peace and quiet.
