Professional Profile
Mrs Gillian Smith trained at Northampton General Hospital, qualifying as a registered general nurse in 1986 and has had a varied career working in all areas within the gynaecology unit.
Following her appointment as a clinical nurse specialist in June 2001, Gillian achieved both clinical and academic qualifications. She qualified as a nurse hysteroscopist in 2002 and completed a postgraduate masters course in autonomous practice, achieving a merit award, at Oxford Brookes University and a postgraduate certificate in medical ultrasound scanning.
In 2008 Gillian was appointed as a nurse consultant in gynaecology and works independently in her own outpatient clinics, as well as providing skilled assistance to her medical consultant colleagues. Gillian is a clinical lead for gynaecology nursing and provides training, education and clinical support.
