Research and clinical trials are an everyday part of the work carried out by the NHS. They are essential because they allow the NHS to show evidence that a new treatment method or medication works better than what’s currently available.
We run a very active clinical research department supported by a large multi-disciplinary team.
We carry out high quality clinical trials and studies of medicines and interventions to help new treatments become available to patients
We perform research in many different disease specialities, but have particular strengths and experience in:
- Trauma and orthopaedics
- Oncology and haematology
- Maternity and women’s health
- Urgent and critical care
Our facilities include the research and development office, an outpatient clinical research facility and a variety of satellite research clinics throughout the hospital site.
