In order to protect our patients, parents and staff as far as we can from the risk of Coronavirus, as of today, 23 March 2020, we have cancelled all children’s outpatient appointments. We will be contacting you in due course to make alternative arrangements. As you will appreciate, we are very busy so please don’t attempt to contact us as we don’t have the capacity to deal with incoming calls. Children’s outpatients is located in area K (outpatients building). The nearest car parks are 3 and 4. Disabled car parking is available.

The children’s outpatients department offers a suitable environment for children and their families to attend appointments. Play is provided for children and young people of all ages. A separate area is allocated for adolescents.
We accept referrals from GPs and other health professionals for children and young people up to the age of 19.
All paediatric outpatients are seen in the department.
Clinics are held by acute and community paediatricians in general paediatrics and in some sub-specialities such as diabetes, cystic fibrosis, epilepsy, endocrinology and functions such as the shoe clinic.
We also arrange for visiting specialists from tertiary centres to hold local clinics.
Psychology and mental health outpatient appointments also held in children’s outpatients.
Children’s pre-op assessments take place in this area.
About the team
The department is run by Children’s Outpatients Manager- Sue Astrop and is staffed with health care assistants, nursery nurses and admin staff.
