Oncology Christmas Party 2025 Oliver's family

Over 100 people came together to celebrate Christmas at the Children’s Oncology Christmas party on Tuesday 22 December at the Wooton Community and Sports Centre.

Held annually the party provides a chance for families in Northamptonshire with children who are going through cancer treatment, who have completed treatment or families who have lost a child to cancer.

The party is organised by the hospital in partnership with PASIC, a charity providing cancer support for children and young people.

This year 30 families came together for an afternoon of festive fun, crafts, games and even featured a visit from Santa to wish all of the families a Merry Christmas.

Gemma Stockton, Children’s Macmillan Lead Nurse, has been instrumental in organising the party for the last few years: “It’s fantastic to have been able to hold our annual party for all children in Northamptonshire. The party brings together our patients and families who are currently undergoing cancer treatment, who have completed treatment in the last few years and those families who have lost children to cancer.

“It’s an opportunity to get everyone together spread some festive cheer amongst families, have some fun time away from hospital appointments and to celebrate Christmas within the community”.

At the party families were able to enjoy a craft station, photobooth, face painting, candyfloss, dancing and party games.

Georgina, mum to Oliver who is currently undergoing treatment, explained why the party is so important to families: “It’s a really good day, it’s amazing what the team all put into it to make things happen for poorly children and especially their siblings as well. Even though they’re older they get so involved in the party as well which is great.”

Thank you to PASIC and the businesses and community organisations who supported the event.Northampton General Hospital has a small but highly specialised Children's Oncology unit, where children can receive their chemotherapy onsite, saving families from having to travel long distances when their children are experiencing the side effects of chemotherapy.
