Update on a future elective surgical hub and diagnostic centre in Wellingborough

UHN is exploring opportunities to expand access to planned care and diagnostic services for patients across Northamptonshire. 

We have identified a preferred site in Wellingborough and are currently assessing its feasibility to accommodate future healthcare facilities, including an elective surgical hub and a new community diagnostic centre. The site is owned by North Northamptonshire Council, which is considering whether the land should be made available for sale to the NHS.

The project remains at an early stage. Any future development would be subject to detailed feasibility assessments, business cases and the relevant approvals process which UHN is actively progressing. 

Our focus remains on ensuring local people can access high-quality care as quickly and conveniently as possible, closer to their homes without needing to visit our acute hospital sites. We will provide further updates as plans progress.
