Our successful dementia awareness event
We would like to say thank you to everyone who came to our Dementia awareness event at Weston Favell Library recently.
This is a regular event we hold through dementia awareness week, with the aim of helping those living with dementia and their loved ones to signpost them towards further help and support.
The event was organised by Neena Quim, Lead Dementia and Delirium Nurse based at NGH. Neena said “It was a successful day. Once again, we saw lots of people visit the stands and talk to the exhibitors. Having worked with people with dementia I know that it can be overwhelming when people first have the diagnosis. This regular event is import to those who are curious about the condition and want further information”.
The event was well supported by local organisations and charities who offered advice and guidance to attendees. Neena said “ I would like to thank Weston Favell Library for hosting the event and ensuring everything ran smoothly throughout the day. I would like to also thank Weston Favell Shopping Centre for allowing the choir to perform within the mall. I would also like to thank Lush for donating a small gift to all organisers and thank the Northamptonshire Health Charity for funding thank you cards, along with tea and coffee for the event.
This event would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of each organisation and charities involved. A heartfelt thank you to everyone. Finally, thank you to everyone who came to see us and speak with us to increase their knowledge and support the event”.
We were also lucky enough to have an uplifting performance by the Together We Can choir who performed on the upper level of the shopping centre. This was enjoyed by the shoppers and our attendees and gave everyone an excuse to sing along with their medley of songs.
