An awareness event to support individuals living with dementia has been organised in Northamptonshire.

The University Hospitals of Northamptonshire (UHN) - which is made up of both Northampton General and Kettering General Hospitals – has set up the community drop-in event on May 22.

The event will draw together 12 different agencies involved in dementia support to ensure that people diagnosed with dementia, and their families, know how to access the help they may need.

It is being held at the Weston Favell Library, Northampton on Friday, May 22, 2026, between 10am and 3pm.

It has been organised by Neena Quim, the Dementia and Delirium Lead at Northampton General Hospital.

She said: “I’ve worked for many years with people with dementia and their loved ones. I want to be able to help them navigate the pathways associated with the diagnosis. There is help and support available, this event will help people find the right support, signpost them or consider what else might be needed in the future.”

“By holding this event and showing the support available, I hope that this will result in local people with dementia being able to live their best life”.

Some of those organisations and community groups that will be on hand on the day include:

  • Age UK
  • Alzheimer’s Society
  • Dementia UK and the Admiral Nurses
  • Healthwatch West Northamptonshire
  • Memory Assessment Service (NHFT)
  • General Practice Alliance (GPA)
  • Northamptonshire Carers
  • Alzheimer’s society
  • North Northamptonshire Dementia Friendly Community
  • Tollers Solicitors
  • UHN Volunteers service

Neena said: “We wanted to offer an opportunity for the local community to learn more about the condition. We chose to hold the event in a library as they’re easy to access and often in the heart of communities.

“We have invited a large range of local organisations and community groups to this event. The agencies invited will help to signpost people to the right place at the right time.”

Alongside the information stands, we will be joined by the Growing Together Choir. They will perform at 11am on the upper mall opposite Costa Coffee – which is close to the library.
