Kettering and Northampton general hospitals are having their first joint annual meeting since they became a University Hospital NHS Group last year.

The event is being held online on Thursday, November 3, from 10am-12 noon via a Microsoft Meetup on this link Join the Annual Members Meeting and General Meeting.

This is a unique opportunity to hear from the senior leadership teams at Northamptonshire’s two acute hospitals which together now serve up to 750,000 local people.

The meeting is open to members of the public and is an opportunity for the hospitals to reflect upon their activities, challenges and achievements over the past financial year.

Group Chair Alan Burns said: “A lot has happened in the last year and this joint annual meeting will give us the opportunity to reflect on that and engage with the communities we serve.

“We have continued to meet the challenges of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic alongside rising demand for emergency NHS care and the need to restore business as usual for patients waiting for routine operations.

“We supported the formation of the new Integrated Care Northamptonshire health and social care system a major opportunity for us all to work together for the benefit of our local population.

“In July last year Kettering and Northampton general hospitals achieved University Hospital status and became an NHS Group.

“Since then we have worked together to look strategically at how best to provide care into the future.

“This has involved detailed work on our clinical ambitions, how we digitalise our hospitals to move with the times, how we support and expand our workforce, and how we to make the most of the academic and research opportunities as a result of our achieving university hospital status.

“In addition both hospitals have had significant individual achievements during the reporting year. For example the development of robotic surgery and a new paediatric A&E at Northampton General Hospital and progressing work towards our major hospital rebuild and the development of a new cancer information and support centre at Kettering General Hospital.

“Looking ahead we are all committed to working together as part of Integrated Care Northamptonshire to develop a sustainable health and social care system to meet and address issues like delayed discharge and the need to better support older people in their local communities.”

At the meeting you will hear from Group Chairman, Alan Burns, Interim Group Executive, Andy Callow, and Hospital Chief Executives, Debbie Needham (KGH) and Heidi Smoult (NGH), along with other senior colleagues.
